When
you write down sick ass dreams, more come to you. Months ago I was
having a spell of good sleep and I retrieved this sick tale: Treasure
Island. And no, it's not a shameless ripoff of Lost.
In
the dream, I crash-landed by plane or something on an island. After
taking inventory with the crew and coming together for mutual
survival, we somehow ended up in the middle of a jungle. Zombies
began to attack us out of nowhere, flanking people and dragging them
away one by one.
I
can recall macheteing zombies and people against the backdrop of a
grand temple, perhaps a tomb sort of structure. Once the remainder of
the crew and I made it here and stared upon a wooden patio
overlooking a lake, we were surrounded on all sides and this Jim
Jones sort of guy came out. He offered us a chance to survive and
live on the island if we surrendered, but the condition was that no
one may ever leave – or they would die. He told us this place was
called Treasure Island.
Memory
tells me that we all sat our weapons down and joined them, shaming
the idea of a virtuous fight. Things became odd as they often do at
the end of dreams, and I began to see a great rocket take off into
the sky. Jim told us that he had no idea how to start a space program
and would find difficulty in matching the exact coordinates on the
ground to the trajectory of the ship in reference Earth's orbit. In
other words, the small surface area of the island and the Earth's
rotation made this mission impossible, or a real feat of physics.
I
gotta return to the island, so I'm offering a small gift of one
million dollars from my dog's millions to whoever can solve this
issue. Lets say the island lies at coordinates
-32.435°S 92.521°E, covering a surface area of 930
km². Assume the island is circular-shaped. We
will call this spot viable, and it applies usque ad coelum
ad inferos. We are using this shuttle for the hypothetical
mission:
http://www.nbcnews.com/id/8514406/ns/technology_and_science-space/t/shuttle-numbers/#.VtPUKH0rJaQ. How
do we keep our shuttle within this area at
a 402.336km height in orbit? How would we actually get
the shuttle to that height without breaking viability? Please
include approximate measurements in your answer.
Físico
necesitado en pronto!
